WHAT BENEFITS DO GROUP THERAPY OFFER?

There are a number of benefits that participants experience when they take an active role in group therapy sessions. These include but are not limited too:

  • Clients can discuss issues with other clients, who may better understand their issues.

  • Clients can learn from others who have similar problems.

  • Clients can pick up new skills that they can use in their daily lives, including social and interpersonal skills, which will help create and sustain strong relationships.

  • Clients can gain multiple perspectives from other group members. Other group members can provide guidance about the situation

  • A safe place to vent and share concerns

  • The opportunity to listen to the needs and concerns of others and offer support.

  • A safe place to practice positive communication and learn effective ways to manage conflict resolution.

  • Group therapy costs less than individual counseling.

  • Clients can find acceptance of their issues because other group members may understand what it’s like to be in their position.

DOES THERAPY FOR MENTAL AND EMOTIONAL PROBLEMS ALWAYS WORK?

Therapy works only if you work the therapy. Just remember 50% of the work is showing up for your scheduled therapy sessions and the other 50% is you applying the tools, coping skills, and interventions to your daily living. It is important to share your concerns honestly and openly. Only if you are completely honest and open can you expect to achieve your therapeutic goals.
